How it works

Office files are zip containers full of XML. When one gets damaged — an interrupted save, a failing drive or USB stick, a botched download or sync — Word just refuses to open it. But most of your content usually still exists inside. FixMyFile reads the damaged container directly, decompresses everything that survived, and rebuilds a clean, openable document from it.

Our promise: the recovery percentage and preview you see are computed from your actual file, before payment. Some files really are beyond saving — wiped to zeros, or encrypted by ransomware. When that's the case we tell you plainly, for free, and recommend you don't pay anyone who claims otherwise.

Free fixes

A surprising share of "corrupted" files aren't corrupted at all — they're a different file type wearing the wrong extension (usually after being emailed or downloaded). We detect that and give you the converted file free.
